Last week students from Rooms 10,11 and 14 presented "The Night of the Notables" After reasearching a notable person who acheivements were of interest to them, these students had to become that notable person. Each student then manned a stall in character, and shared information with the audience. The performances were terrific and alot was learnt by everyone. Well done to the students and a big thanks to Mrs Deller, Mrs Phillips, Mr Sibson and Mr Coutts for this great work.
Enrolments are now open for 2011 Kindy and Pre-Primary placements. Please feel free to contact the school if you have any queries. Enrolment forms are available from our front office.
During this term as part of their Science and S & E program, many of our Year 7's will involved inthe "Adopt a Coastline" program run by the City of Joondalup. Judith Jacobs from the program is helping our students learn about the biodiversity of the coastal environment, teamwork, contributing to their community and environmental responsibility through active citizenship. The students are really keen to be involved and looking forward to helping.
During Literacy Week our school was lucky enough to have two visiting authors (Elaine Forrestal (1-3) and Mark Greenwood (4-7)) who shared with the stundets some of their experiences, writing and about being an author. Our students found the sessions very interesting and most students really enjoyed the opportunity. Some fantastic work has been done in class as a followup to these visits.
The annual Cross-Country was held around the School’s oval and Chichester Park on Friday
, 1st July. The Years 4 & 5 course was 1500m long and the Years 6 & 7 course 2000m.
Every student who participated earned a ribbon and at least one point for his/her faction.
The cool temperature and shower of rain didn’t stop students from enjoying the day.
There was lots of colour, a great atmosphere and each race had exciting ‘running battles’
close to the finish line. Thank you to staff and the energetic crowd for making this year’s
Faction Cross-Country a success.
Gold, Green & Red tried their best throughout the Cross-Country, however,
Blue had almost 100% participation and enough strong runners to win the Champions Trophy
for a record third consecutive year. Congratulations ‘Mighty Blue’. Another fantastic team effort!
Watch out for the other factions in 2012. No doubt they will start their training early in order to
end the unbeaten ‘run’. Individual placegetters were acknowledged during presentation.

After much anticipation our school's new stage area is finished. Mrs Deller
has already taken the opportunity to put on a tremendous opening production and with
Mrs Adamson's and Mr Sibson's help the standard of our school assesmblies has already
gone up a notch.
The stage includes a new sound and lighting system which will make a difference to
future presentations. The back stage area allows students to be on stage, but not seen which
will also make a big difference in future productions.
After our grand official opening (as seen above) we are confident our students will
have many more memorable experiences in this terrific new facility. See you at assembly.
Just a reminder that our Kiss and Drive is now up and running
again
When it is running smoothly it can be much better than trying to find a
parking spot
At last count we've now collected 153 704 ring pulls and only need another
20 000 for a wheel chairs worth of aluminium. Keep up the great work.
Due to the work happening in the undercover area the sports
equipment has been moved into a sea container placed behind room 14. Mr
Z will let you know when and how sports equipment can be borrowed in
the usual way until then equipment will be placed in each classroom.
Towards the end of last year Mrs Adamson applied to be a Level
3
teacher. Level 3 teachers are exceptional teachers who provide
curriculum leadership in their schools. Congratulations to Mrs Adamson
well deserved.
