Canteen

The Lunch Box Canteen

At North Woodvale Primary School our canteen strives to give students and staff a wide variety of delicious yet nutritious options. Wholly run by the P&C as a service to the school community, we use quality ingredients to prepare homemade healthy offerings on site. Many dietary requirements like Gluten-Free, Vegetarian and Dairy-Free are catered for. We are a Nut-Free canteen.

Operating hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 1.15pm.

Serving times: Recess (10.35am – 10.55am) and Lunch (12.35pm – 1.20pm)

Canteen Manager: Cathie Lynch

Phone: 6207 2308

Canteen Staffing

While the P&C employs a full-time canteen manager, the canteen relies on the help of volunteers each day to ensure it runs smoothly and to keep costs affordable. Without our volunteers, we would not be able to offer the wide variety of healthy homemade options that we do.

Be a Canteen Volunteer!

If you are able to, even if for just one day a year, please consider volunteering at the canteen as we are always in need. No cooking experience is necessary as you will be shown what to do. Benefits include seeing your child’s happy face as you serve them, morning tea/coffee as well as lunch for yourself or your child.

Canteen Menu – Recess and Lunch

All menu items meet the Department of Education’s Healthy Food and Drink policy and are in accordance with the compulsory ‘Traffic Light’ healthy eating strategy.

The menu comprises of everyday favourites like toasties, macaroni and cheese, lasagne, salads, butter chicken and so much more plus specials that change daily.

Paper copies of the menu are available from the canteen or from the school office or the menu can be viewed online here

In addition to fulfilling recess and lunch orders, the canteen is also open daily for over the counter sales during recess and lunch with a variety of freshly made food items and treats.

How to Place a Canteen Order

There are 2 easy ways to order recess or lunch:

1. Over the Counter

To order over the counter, clearly write the following details on a paper lunch bag – child’s name, room number, items ordered and total cost. Completed paper bags with cash (no EFTPOS) can be handed in at the canteen by 8.45am daily or you/your child can also complete one at the canteen counter on the day itself. Paper lunch bags are available at the canteen or blank ones can be purchased from the supermarket.

2. Online ordering

To order online, visit www.quickcliq.com.au, register and follow the easy instructions. You will need to add credit to your account via credit card, PayPal or direct debit. Once you have placed an order online you will receive a confirmation via email. Daily cut-off time for online orders is by 8.45am for the date of the order. You may also place online orders up to 2 weeks in advance.

Order Cancellations

Online orders can be cancelled up to 8.45am on the date of order. If you miss the cut-off or need to cancel an over the counter order, contact the canteen as soon as possible so we can issue a refund providing the order hasn’t already been prepared.

Late Lunch Orders

If students forget to submit their lunch orders, we will make every attempt to fulfil their order as soon as we receive them but failing which, we are able to provide a last-minute Vegemite/Ham/Cheese sandwich.

Missing Lunch

Sometimes a student might find their lunch missing or have their lunch dropped/made inedible. In such instance, they will be sent to the office where a staff member will contact the care giver to approve a purchase. An IOU slip will be sent home with the student for the lunch given to them and payment can be made in person at the canteen or online (if paying online make sure to put in remarks ‘Payment for lunch on xx/xx’).

Reheating

In line with Health and Safety Regulations and time constraints, we unfortunately are not able to reheat food brought in from home or outsourced suppliers. However, all canteen orders are served warm or cold as appropriate.

Cutlery

Our canteen strives to be environmentally friendly and thus we do not provide plastic disposable cutlery. We encourage all students to bring their own cutlery should they have a lunch order but should they forget, limited metal cutlery is available. As these often go missing after usage, we always welcome donations of your unwanted forks, spoons and teaspoons.
